• Lost Memory, Lost Manhood by Ryo Wolf
  Over all a pretty well written (if generic) tale about amnesia, rivalry and Ranma losing her memory, adopting the persona of a girl. The author's attention to detail is excellent, IMO and the general story mechanics are above the high water mark. My only real complaint is the use of 'Evil Ranma' as an unnatural plot device to create girl Ranma. Yes, there's two of them. Beyond that minor annoying detail, even those scenes are pretty well scripted, though they leave you wanting for something more substantial concerning Ranma/Evil-Ranma. Still, it's a good fic with skill that can't be denied.

• Spirit Walk by Gainfach
  Ah yes, the joys of drug induced spirit visions via Akane's cooking. But then, how else is an ancient North American Indian wolf-spirit going to visit Nerima, Japan? It's an interestingly off-kilter short story that takes a glimps into Ranma's future should he continue down the 'find-a-cure' path. Along the way is some fascinating spiritual imagry and interesting revelations for Ranma and the reader. The NE Indian mix into a solidly Japanese plot is a refreshing change from the norm and definitely wets ones appitite for the follow on story, Martial Art Motherhood ..even if it is Ranma + Akane; to be reviewed in the near future.

• Wild Horse Thesis by Calamity-Queen of Cordite
  First, lets be brutally honest... The plot is beyond generic. Ranma is magically banished to the fictional world of evangelion, where his exploits can be viewed on tape by the NWC. Genius. No, I'm not being sarcastic. The author makes no apologise for using such an obvious plot device and it is, in fact, the central charm of her work, much like Trimatter's Aftermath. By anybody of lesser skill this fic would have crashed and burned, but then, Calamity's writing has always been above the high-water mark. From watching Ranma saving Eva-Earth to watching the NWC watch Ranma save the Eva-Earth, it's a par excellent read all the way through. The ending was a tad on the weak side, IMO, but that's a very VERY minor blip in an otherwise future classic.

• The Four Truths by muishiki
  In terms of technical skill, this work is definitely superior. The secret genius Ranma plot has quite a bit of potential as well. But. But this story is fatally flawed in its execution, reading more like a dry college narrative than the wonderful fic it was born to be. I don't mind first person tales on average, but this story's narration is dry as the Sahara winds. The work is completed, but honestly, I couldn't bring myself to read past chapter twelve or so, and I SO wanted to. That's how much promise this story held, but ultimately failed, rolling a critical miss in the process.
