Bless Rumiko Takahashi for creating the Ranma1/2 universe and my father for buying me a computer. May he rest in peace. ---------------------- Going home ---------------------- By Ryanko Ranma awoke to the bright sun beaming down on his face threw the open window, he smiled as it was a kind change to the bucket of cold water he had grown accustomed to. But as of late he was having some odd dreams, he had recently begun dreaming of a place surrounded by trees and bamboo huts, scary enough it seemed allot like the Amazon village, but he was never afraid there, he also saw the figure of a person with blue hair. It almost seemed like... home. Strangely enough these dreams started when Ranma awoke in the middle of the night and heard his father talking in his sleep. ********* Ranma awoke lazily to the continuous ramblings of his father. "Damn it old man let me sleep." He groggily said. Preparing to punt his father into orbit he stood and paused for only a second but that’s all it took for him to hear what his father was saying; "Run... No-Chan.... get to Japan... Take Ranma and.... hurry... I'll try... to hold them off..." The talking stopped and Genma remained silent. Ranma stood there motionless and silent; "What was that all about?" ********* After that night Ranma had questioned his father about it but to Ranma's surprise Genma got angry and ordered him to never talk about it again, this confused Ranma as his father rarely ever got angry, oh sure he raised his voice and put on a show but Genma rarely ever got genuinely angry. Now Ranma was very curious and decided to ask his mother, "Mom, was there ever a time when you and pops had to flee from China?" Nodoka who had been drinking tea nearly choked on it. "Why, No Ranma, whatever would give you that idea? Oh Kasumi do you mind if I help you with dinner?" That said she got up and left for the kitchen. Ranma knew now that there was something up and decided to talk to the only person he knew who could get information. Nabiki. Knock Knock Knock "Come in." Ranma entered the room and shut the door behind him. Nabiki was sitting in a chair by her desk looking at a file. As Ranma entered she closed the file and turned to face him; "Ah Ranma, what can I do for you today and please, do hurry I'm going to meet with a client in 30 minutes." "I want you to find some information for me." Short quick to the point, Ranma learned that that was how you had to operate with Nabiki in order to keep your yen in your pocket and not hers. "Hmm what kind of information?" Nabiki asked raising an eyebrow, unusual that this was coming from Ranma of all people. "On my parents, I want to know if they ever went to China and what they did there. Just ignore the information I told you about my past I’m looking for before that." Nabiki thought about it for a few moments then finally said, "10,000 yen." "7,000 and keep it to yourself." Nabiki almost fell over, Ranma bargaining!?! Smirking she said, "Silence cost extra, 15,000." "10,000 is all I got, take it or leave it, keep it to yourself though." Holding out her hand she said "Deal." Ranma shook her hand and then reached into his pocket pulling out a wad of about 15,000 yen. Peeling off ten he handed it to her. "You said you only had ten." Nabiki said raising an eyebrow again. Ranma smirked "And you believed me." That said Ranma stood and headed for the door. Nabiki laughed "So I did, I never thought you the type to con someone Ranma, looks like I’m gonna have to keep my eye on you." Ranma closed the door behind him and Nabiki went back to her folder. Nabiki had been looking through some files in the public library, it had been 3 weeks since Ranma had asked her to find this information and she had to admit it had peeked her interest. So far she had tracked the Saotome’s across China and now she found out that they had been in some mountains near Jusenkyou. Jusenkyou this scared her, had Mr or Mrs Saotome been cursed prior to the events Ranma and his father explained!?!? She found that they stayed in those mountains for a bit than suddenly vanished and than Nodoka reappeared on the edge of China when she bought a plane ticket for two to Japan. Genma wasn't with her. "Who was the second?" Genma later reappeared at Nodoka's homes in Kyoto where after six years Genma left with Ranma on a ten-year training trip. But wait... thinking back to Ranma's birth date she thought about it, according to his birth date he would have been born while Genma and Nodoka where in China, yet on his birth card it clearly said 'Kyoto, Japan.' "Something’s not right here." Nabiki said aloud. On a hunch, she got up and left the library her next destination already in her mind she walked down the street for a while before coming up to a large white building with a single sign "Clinic" "Dr Tofu are you busy?" she said as she entered the clinic. "Not at all Nabiki, follow me, what can I do for you?" The young doctor and Shinto expert said with a smile. She was led into the examining room where she sat in an empty chair. "Dr Tofu, I’m looking for information on Mrs Saotome." Dr Tofu frowned slightly, "Now Nabiki you know I can't just..." "Please doctor its very important!" she said almost pleading. Dr Tofu sighed, "I won't guarantee nothing but what is it your looking for?" Nabiki stood and whispered into his ear. His face suddenly went serious. "Nabiki do you know what your saying? If what you say is true than Ranma... Hold on I'll check." Dr tofu left the room and Nabiki sat back down, he returned shortly after his face had lost all colour. Nabiki left the clinic and walked home in silence, the news was a complete horror for her. Nabiki entered the Tendou compound; she looked around and found Ranma sparring with Genma, "Ranma we have to talk. Now." Seeing the seriousness of her words Ranma quickly knocked out his father and left the dojo. "Find anything?" Ranma asked as he and Nabiki entered her room. He sat on the bed while she moved her chair in front of him. "Yes, I have. Your father and mother where in China when you were born. But..." Ranma into her eyes and say shock in them she found something very important indeed. "But..." Ranma said urging Nabiki to continue. "Ranma your mother is barren." Ranma just sat there in shock his mother was barren? He wasn't her son? "Then who?" he asked. Nabiki just shook her head, "I don't know. If the times are true then I'd say there were about here when your supposed birth happened." Nabiki had pulled out a map of china and pointed to a region Ranma knew only too well. "Jusenkyou." Nabiki nodded. "How long where they there?" Nabiki looked into Ranma's eyes and said "About two weeks according to my research." Ranma stood and began to leave the room. "Thanks Nabiki for all your help." Nabiki stood quickly "What are you going to do Ranma?" Ranma looked down then looked forward with his eyes anger and determination in his eyes. "Find the amazons." "The amazons? Why?" Ranma turned his head and looked at Nabiki out of the corner of his eye. "My father talked in his sleep, he and my mother were running from something and you don't have a baby in two weeks." He then left the room. The full implications of what had happened hit Nabiki like a freight train. The Saotome’s desperate for a son to fill the pact find out Nodoka is barren, traveling across China they come across the Amazon village, there they find a place no ones ever really heard of and they find a newborn child, a boy just what they want, they take him and run. Genma knowing the Yamasenken and Umasenken is able to throw to lure the Amazons away from his wife as she flees to Japan, he returns later and little Ranma is theirs. The second person she had gotten a ticket for was Ranma. "Ranma where are you going dinners almost ready." Nodoka says with a smile as Ranma walks towards the door. "I'm going out." he says coldly and walks out the front door. Ranma walked alone and deep in thought as he made his way to the Nekohanten and his past, "What am I gonna say? What am I gonna do?" he asked himself. "Only one thing I can." He said looking forward, his face a mask of grim determination. He entered the Nekohanten and was treated to the customary 'Ranma take me on date' glomp courtesy of Shampoo airways. "Maybe later." he said "but for now I need to talk to Cologne." Shampoo let go of her Airen and smiled finally Ranma was beginning to see the others weren't as good as Shampoo and was here to talk about marriage. "Shampoo got get Great Grandmother, then shampoo make to to delicious Ramen for Airen ok?" Nodding she bounded of and Ranma sat down. Shortly afterwards Cologne came out and sat in front of the young man. "What is it son-in-law? Have you finally seen the futility of your struggles and decided to come back peacefully?" "I’m here to talk about the stolen child from your village sixteen years ago, stolen from the woman with the blue hair... what was her name again?" Colognes staff came up quick and the point stopped an inch before his throat. "How did you know about that?" she said with a scowl. Ranma smirked. "I only know some of it, two people, a man and a woman, went into your village and stole a child I want to know the whole story." Cologne stood, "Follow me." She led Ranma into the back where she asked Shampoo for privacy and then after Ranma had sat down she began. "It was late, raining hard when they came in. At the time we offered them shelter from the rain and they gladly accepted. The young couple stayed with me at my home and were very hospitable in helping me around the house. The rain hadn’t let up for two days on the third day my friend’s daughter Lavender went into labour. I rushed over there and ten hours later a healthy young boy was born, she called him Toe Wel, or Towel, as you would say. I will never forget that child it’s had the same eyes as his mother and was destined for great things. Shortly after his birth the rain stopped, we considered this a good blessing for the child, but it was not to be as shortly after the young couple disappeared and so did Toe Wel. We tracked them across the lands and found that yes they had in fact taken Toe Wel. The male turned out to be a capable martial artist and fended off the scouting party, I took up the trail myself but in my arrogance I was led down some false trails and we lost the child forever." Ranma sat and shifted slight through out the whole story, "Would you know this child if you saw him today?" Cologne looked away for a second then back to Ranma. "I would know your face anywhere Toe Wel, in your right eye you have the same three silver dot as your mother and all in her line, does." Ranma didn't know what to think. Cologne had known that Genma and Nodoka weren't his parent all this time and she never said anything? "Why didn't you ever say anything?" he asked. "Come now Toe Wel, would you have honestly believed me? You would have thought it was a trick and denied it all; we would have lost you forever. Did you know that Lavender saw you when you went to China to fight Saffron? She recognized you and they nearly had to knock her out just so she wouldn't grab you or kill Genma?" Ranma sat there and asked for some time to think Cologne obliged and left the room. As Cologne left the room Shampoo bounded in front of her and asked "What Airen doing?" "Quite child, Son-in-law has much to think about and need not be disturbed, it is a most troubling time for him. Please close the Restaurant." Three hour later Ranma left the room and found Cologne sitting down smoking a pipe in the closed Nekohanten. "I've come to a decision. I want to go home. Genma and Nodoka have been my family for the longest time and I love them allot but they cannot reap the benefits of their crime, I want to go home to the village." Nodding Cologne asked for the others to get packed, "We will leave tomorrow Son-in-law, please gather your things." Nodding Ranma looked over to Shampoo who sat quietly in a chair looking at him, he could see she was trying desperately not to jump up and glomp him. He thanked her silently. Ranma returned home that night and was bombarded by questions from everyone except Nabiki and Kasumi. Oddly it was Nabiki who put a stop to it all in telling everyone that she had conned Ranma into working for her in one of her schemes and then nodded to Ranma and she was then scowled at by Her father, Nodoka and Kasumi. Ranma walked upstairs and into his room where he quickly packed his bags and was placed it back into the closet. He was about to go train when there was a knock at his door. It was Nabiki. "So your gonna leave?" Ranma slowly nodded. "Thanks for the help earlier, with the others I mean." Nabiki walked over to him; "Hey no biggy, I'm used to it after all." Ranma looked at Nabiki and smiled; "You know, I’m glad I met you Nabiki Tendou, I never met someone as caring as you." Nabiki grinned like a cat "Yeah well don't let it get out, might ruin my rep." She then kissed Ranma who stood there stunned. "Just don't forget about me." She said as she put 10,000 yen into his hand and left the room. Ranma left the next day and no one ever found out where he was going, only Nabiki knew and she was as good as her word, Ranma had asked her never to tell and she would take it to her grave. Ranma arrived in the village a week later where he met a crying woman who grabbed onto him and held him tightly as she cried. He returned her hug and smiled at her. "Hello mother." He said in mandrin, "I'm home." THE END This story was just a little idea I decided to write up and it only took me about 2 hours to write. I was gonna put a bit more but decided to stop there.
